Your Smile, Our Priority

Save Your Tooth, Restore Your Comfort

A damaged or infected tooth does not always need to be removed. Root canal therapy is designed to remove infected pulp from inside the tooth while preserving the natural tooth structure.

During treatment, the infected tissue is carefully removed, the inside of the tooth is cleaned and shaped, and the canals are sealed to help prevent further infection. A final restoration, such as a crown when recommended, can then help protect the treated tooth and restore its function.

Q1. What is a root canal?

A root canal is a treatment used to remove infected or inflamed pulp from inside a tooth, then clean, fill, and seal the root canals to help save the natural tooth.

A root canal may be recommended when the tooth pulp becomes infected or inflamed because of deep decay, repeated dental treatment, cracks, or dental trauma.

Possible signs include sensitivity to hot or cold, pain when biting or chewing, persistent tooth pain, swelling, or discomfort around the affected tooth. Some infections may have few noticeable symptoms.

Modern root canal treatment is performed with local anesthesia and is generally designed to keep patients comfortable during the procedure. Some sensitivity or discomfort may occur for a few days afterward.

After the canals are cleaned and sealed, your dentist may recommend a crown or another restoration to protect the tooth and restore its strength and function.
