Dr. Shilpa Ganatra Thakkar earned her dental degree from Gujarat University in India and began her career in general dentistry, where she practiced for nearly eight years before moving to the United States with her husband.

With a strong interest in advanced dental care and endodontic treatment, Dr. Thakkar continued to expand her clinical and academic expertise at UT Health San Antonio. As a visiting student in the Department of Endodontics, she was involved in various research projects and contributed to several published articles. Her growing interest in endodontics led her to complete postgraduate training in the specialty at UT Health San Antonio, where she developed advanced skills in diagnosis, clinical micro-endodontic procedures, and evidence-based patient care.

Throughout her postgraduate training, Dr. Thakkar remained actively involved in dental research and scholarly work. Her commitment to continued learning has also led her to serve as an external reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics.

Dr. Thakkar believes that excellent endodontic care should combine clinical precision with compassion and patient comfort. She strives to create a relaxed, positive experience for every patient while providing modern, high-quality treatment. She is a member of the American Association of Endodontists and the American Dental Association.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Thakkar enjoys reading, traveling, and spending meaningful time with her husband and children.
